A Udyam certificate download is free on udyamregistration.gov.in: open Print/Verify, choose Print Udyam Certificate, and log in with your Udyam number, your mobile number and an OTP. You can print or save the PDF as often as you like.
MSME certificate download: key takeaways
- Downloading needs three things: the 19-character Udyam number (UDYAM-XX-00-0000000), the mobile number given at registration, and an OTP sent to that mobile or the registered email.
- The Udyam portal states that registration is free and no fees are to be paid to anyone, so any site charging to print your certificate is unofficial.
- A forgotten Udyam number can be recovered only through the mobile number or email given at registration, not through PAN or Aadhaar.
- The certificate never needs renewal, but ITR and GST return details for the previous financial year must be updated online, or the registration can be suspended.
- Old Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) registrations were valid only up to 30 June 2022. Move yours with UAM Migration to Udyam, using the UAM number and an OTP, then download the new Udyam certificate.
Find your situation below:
| Your number looks like | What you have | Where to download |
|---|---|---|

| You never registered | No certificate yet | Register first using the free online steps |
The numbers in the first two rows are made-up examples of the format. No Udyam number yet? Get your Udyam certificate first.
How Do You Download Your Udyam Certificate, Step by Step?
You download your Udyam certificate from the Udyami Login page, which you reach from Print/Verify on the official portal. It takes a few minutes if you have your registered mobile or email with you.
Unsure why you need the certificate at all? It is your proof of MSME status and the benefits it brings.
What you need before you start
- Udyam Registration Number (URN): 19 characters in the format UDYAM-XX-00-0000000, where XX is a two-letter code.
- Mobile number: the mobile number filled in the application. The portal asks for it even if you want the OTP by email.
- OTP access: your phone, or the email address you gave at registration.
Many guides call the URN a 16-digit or 12-digit number. It is neither. It has 16 letters and digits plus three hyphens, and the portal itself calls it 19 digits.
The steps
- Go to udyamregistration.gov.in.
- Open the Print/Verify menu at the top and click Print Udyam Certificate.
- Type your Udyam Registration Number.
- Type the mobile number you gave in the application.
- Choose OTP on mobile or OTP on email.
- Type the case-sensitive verification code shown on screen.
- Click Validate & Generate OTP, enter the OTP, then click Validate OTP & Login.
- Print the certificate, or choose your browser's Save as PDF option to keep a copy.
After login, the screen shows your certificate with two print buttons: Print and Print with Annexure. If clicking them opens nothing, your browser is blocking pop-ups; allow pop-ups for udyamregistration.gov.in and click again.
You can repeat these steps to download Udyam certificate copies at any time. The PDF is your Udyam Registration Certificate, showing your latest classification.
On a phone, use the browser's own save option.
In Chrome on Android, tap More, then Share, then Print, and choose Save as PDF. In Safari on an iPhone, tap the Page Menu button, then Share (or tap Share directly), then Markup, then Done, and choose Save File To.
Print or Print with Annexure?
After you log in, you can print the certificate on its own or with its annexure. The annexure adds the details from your application, such as your PAN, bank details, employees, NIC codes and year-wise investment and turnover.
Save both, in case a bank or buyer asks for the full record.
What to check on your downloaded certificate
Before you send the PDF to a bank or buyer, check these details against what each field should show.
- Enterprise name: it should match your PAN and GST records.
- Type of enterprise: the row for the latest classification year should show the size you expect. If not, check the ITR and GST figures behind it.
- NIC codes: every activity you carry out should be listed.
- Official address and units: they should be current if you have moved or opened a new unit.
- Dates: incorporation and start of business should be correct.
- Help offices: note the names of the District Industries Centre and MSME-DFO printed at the bottom; they are your local help desks.
If anything is wrong, correct it through Update/Cancel Udyam Registration. Once the update is saved, log in through Print Udyam Certificate to download a fresh copy.
Forgot Your Udyam Registration Number? How to Find It
If you forgot your Udyam registration number, the portal's Forgot Udyam/UAM Number page shows it after an OTP check. It needs only the mobile number or email you gave in the application.
- Open Print/Verify and click Forgot Udyam/UAM Number.
- Choose Udyam Registration (or Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum if you have an old number).
- Choose OTP on mobile or OTP on email, and type that mobile or email.
- Click Validate & Generate OTP, enter the OTP and click Validate OTP.
- The page shows all registration numbers linked to that mobile or email.
That is how to find Udyam registration number details on the official portal. Your PAN or Aadhaar number alone will not recover it.
Several websites and even some search summaries describe a PAN or Aadhaar route, but the official page has no such field.
Other places the number may already be: an old printout of the certificate, a loan or current account file at your bank, or your CA's records.
OTP Not Coming or Mobile Number Changed? Fixes by Problem
Most failed downloads come from an old mobile number or a typing mistake in the Udyam number. Find your problem below.
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Udyam should have first 5 letters, followed by one (-)..." | Wrong format or a missing hyphen | Type it as UDYAM-XX-00-0000000, in capitals |
| "Mobile no. should be of 10 digits must start with 9, 8, 7 or 6" | Extra digits, such as a 0 or +91 in front | Type the 10-digit number only |
| OTP not arriving on mobile | Network delay | Wait a few minutes, then choose OTP on email |
| Old mobile number no longer in use | The login still asks for it | Type the old number and choose OTP on email |
| Lost both the old mobile and the email | No OTP route left | Contact your District Industries Centre (DIC) |
| Wrong details on the certificate | Error at registration | Log in and use Update/Cancel Udyam Registration |
| Verification code rejected | It is case-sensitive | Refresh it and type it again exactly |
Update/Cancel Udyam Registration uses the same Udyami Login, so you need a working OTP route first. If you have none, District Industries Centres and Champions Control Rooms act as help desks for Udyam registrants.
You can also email champions@gov.in, call or WhatsApp +91 8308809334 (Monday to Friday, 10 am to 6 pm), or raise a grievance on the Champions portal.
Since January 2024, the Ministry's MSME-DFO offices can act within 48 hours when a state industries office asks for a record to be fixed or cancelled.
Request template for the DIC or Champions desk
Copy this into an email or letter and fill in the brackets:
Subject: Request to update mobile number on Udyam Registration [UDYAM-XX-00-0000000]
Dear Sir or Madam, I am the [proprietor / managing partner / authorised signatory] of [enterprise name], registered under the number above. The mobile number in my application, [old number], is no longer in use.
I also cannot access the registered email, [email].
Please help me update my contact details so that I can log in and download my certificate. I attach my PAN card and a copy of my old certificate. My new mobile number is [new number]. Regards, [name]
Keep the request factual: misstating details in the Udyam self-declaration can lead to a penalty under the MSMED Act.
How to Download an Old Udyog Aadhaar or Udyam Assist Certificate
An old Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) certificate is no longer valid, so the copy to download is the Udyam certificate you get after migrating. A Udyam Assist Certificate comes through the agency that registered you.
Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) certificate
Udyog Aadhaar, often spelt Udyog Aadhar, used a 12-character number such as DL05A0000001. That number stopped being valid after 30 June 2022, so a Udyog Aadhar download today gives you a copy no bank or buyer should accept.
Migrate, then download the Udyam certificate instead.
- On udyamregistration.gov.in, click UAM Migration to Udyam on the home page.
- Enter your 12-character UAM number.
- Choose OTP on the mobile or the email given in the UAM, then validate the OTP.
- Complete the Udyam details the form asks for, including PAN, and submit with the final OTP.
- Note the new UDYAM number shown on screen, then download the certificate with the steps above.
Lost the UAM number? Forgot Udyam/UAM Number finds it from the UAM's mobile or email. Lost both of those too? Ask your District Industries Centre. Once you hold a Udyam number, quote that number everywhere instead of the UAM number.
Udyam Assist Certificate
You can do a Udyam Assist certificate download yourself on the separate Udyam Assist Platform, udyamassist.gov.in, not the Udyam portal. These certificates are for informal micro enterprises outside GST and income tax, and their numbers start with UDYAM-I.
- Open udyamassist.gov.in, go to Print / Verify and click Print Udyam Certificate.
- Enter your UDYAM-I number.
- Complete the mobile number check with the OTP sent to your phone.
- Complete the Aadhaar or Voter ID check the screen asks for.
- Click Download / View Certificate and save the PDF.
If the mobile check fails, ask the bank, NBFC or microfinance lender that registered you; it also receives a copy. Street vendors registered under PM SVANidhi can download it from the PM SVANidhi portal with their login.
No PAN or GST yet, and not registered at all? You can still apply through the Udyam Assist route.
How Can You Verify a Udyam Certificate?
You can verify any Udyam certificate on the official portal with only its number. This is useful when a supplier sends you their certificate as proof of MSME status.
- By number: open Print/Verify, choose Verify Udyam Registration, and enter the URN and the verification code. No OTP is needed.
- By QR code: each certificate carries a dynamic QR code. Scanning it opens the enterprise's details on the portal.
Compare what the portal shows with the PDF: enterprise name, type, major activity and date of registration. If they differ, ask the supplier for a fresh download.
If the portal finds no record, ask for the number again and treat the certificate as unverified until it checks out. Udyam certificate verification takes under a minute and costs nothing.
Do You Need a New Udyam Certificate Every Year?
No, you keep the same certificate: Udyam certificate validity has no end date and there is no renewal. The number is permanent, but the classification on it can change each year.
What you must do each year is keep the record current, including your ITR and GST return for the previous financial year. If you skip a required update, your Udyam status can be suspended.
How to update Udyam certificate details each year
- File your ITR and GST returns for the year. The portal reads your investment in plant and machinery and your turnover from them through your PAN.
- Open Update/Cancel Udyam Registration and log in with your Udyam number, registered mobile, an OTP and the case-sensitive code.
- Check the fetched figures and your classification as a micro enterprise, small enterprise or medium enterprise. Change any address, bank, unit or NIC code that is out of date.
- Save the changes and confirm them with the OTP the portal sends.
- Download a fresh certificate through Print Udyam Certificate, so the copy you share shows the current year.
If your classification moves down, the new status applies from 1 April of the next financial year. If it moves up, you keep the non-tax benefits of your earlier category for three years.
Think your registration is suspended? Check your own number on Verify Udyam Registration, then contact your District Industries Centre or the Champions helpline with your Udyam number.
Which Copy Will Your Bank or Buyer Accept?
Banks and buyers accept the PDF from the official portal. A copy in DigiLocker counts too: a Ministry of MSME letter of 1 January 2025 asks that it be accepted at par with the physical certificate.
How to get your Udyam certificate in DigiLocker
DigiLocker fetches the certificate straight from the Ministry of MSME, so you can keep it on your phone. DigiLocker's own guide lists these steps:
- Sign up or sign in to DigiLocker.
- Open Central Government, then Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises.
- Select Udyam Certificate.
- Enter your Udyam number and the mobile number linked to your Udyam registration.
Once fetched, the certificate sits under Issued Documents in your DigiLocker account, ready to share.
DigiLocker's Udyam fetch uses only your Udyam number and the Udyam-linked mobile number, not your PAN. If that mobile has changed, the fetch may fail until your Udyam record is updated.
Banks ask for it to tag your loan for priority sector lending and as one proof of business for a proprietor's current account. Buyers check your classification, often together with your GSTIN and NIC code.
Share only the PDF or the number. A real download never needs anyone else to receive your OTP, so never give an OTP to an agent or website. The Udyam portal itself warns users to beware of fake sites.
A paid site typically asks you to fill a form and pay a consultancy fee, then emails the PDF later. The official download is free and ready as soon as you log in.
If you export services, you need clean paperwork for overseas clients too. Xflow lets sole proprietorships and other Indian businesses get paid from abroad, with an eFIRA within 24 hours for every international transaction.

Frequently asked questions
The MSME certificate and the Udyam certificate are the same document, so the MSME certificate download works the same way every year. Do your annual update first. Then download it again so it shows your current classification.
A Udyam number is not 12 digits. A 12-character number such as DL05A0000001 is an old Udyog Aadhaar number. Use Forgot Udyam/UAM Number on the portal to see which numbers you hold.
No. The certificate is computer generated, carries a dynamic QR code and needs no signature or attestation. A bank or buyer checks it with Verify Udyam Registration or by scanning the QR code.
No. The login needs your Udyam number as well as your mobile number. If you only have the mobile number, first recover the number through Forgot Udyam/UAM Number, then download.
No. Both the Udyam portal and DigiLocker use the Udyam number and the registered mobile. PAN or Aadhaar alone will not bring up the certificate.
Not the certificate itself. With only the number you can verify the registration and see its details, but printing the PDF needs an OTP sent to the registered mobile or email.
