Udyog Aadhaar registration changed to Udyam Registration on 1 July 2020, so a fresh Udyog Aadhar download is no longer possible on the government system.
You can still print an old certificate as a record, and the official portal asks for no payment to do it.
Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) was the online form that micro, small and medium enterprises filed with the owner's Aadhaar number before 2020. It carried a 12-character number, such as DL05A0000001, and it stopped being valid after 30 June 2022.
If you still need the document, you can print the old certificate with your UAM number and registered mobile number.
You can also recover the number if you have lost it, and switch to the certificate that banks and tenders now accept.
Is an old Udyog Aadhaar certificate still valid today
No, an old Udyog Aadhaar certificate stopped being valid after 30 June 2022. The legacy template on the portal reads "Valid Till 30/06/2022", so an Udyog Aadhaar download today only produces a record of your past registration.
You can print it, but banks and tenders generally will not treat the printout as current proof of MSME status.
The old number also looks different from the one you get now, which is the quickest way to tell the two apart.
| Detail | Old Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) | Udyam Registration |
|---|---|---|
| Number format | 12 characters, such as DL05A0000001 | 19 characters, such as UDYAM-XX-00-0000000 |
| Current validity | Ended 30 June 2022 | Accepted as current proof of MSME status |
Your UAM number is not your Aadhaar number. The Aadhaar number was a separate field on the old form, so do not enter it when a page asks for the UAM number.
How to print an old Udyog Aadhaar certificate with your UAM number
You print an old record on the official portal at https://udyamregistration.gov.in, under the Print/Verify menu. The portal handles the Udyog Aadhaar certificate download in two fields and asks for no OTP and no Aadhaar number at this step.
| Step | Field on the portal | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Print/Verify, then Print UAM Certificate | Opens the Print Udyog Aadhaar Registration Certificate page |
| 2 | 12 digit UAM No. | Your UAM number as shown on the portal, such as DL05A0000001 |
| 3 | Mobile Number as per udyog aadhaar certificate | The mobile number recorded on your original certificate |
| 4 | Submit | The certificate opens on screen for you to print |
The page has separate Print Application and Print Certificate tabs. The certificate tab gives you the formatted certificate, while the application tab shows the form you once filed.
Udyog Aadhar download PDF and how to save the file
To get a Udyog Aadhar download PDF, open the certificate on screen and use your browser's print dialog, then choose "Save as PDF" as the destination.
The portal page does not show a separate download button, so this browser step is the way to save the file.
The saved PDF will still carry the line "Valid Till 30/06/2022", because that date is printed on the legacy template itself and does not change when you reprint it.
Udyog Aadhar download by mobile number and finding a lost UAM number
A Udyog Aadhar download by mobile number alone is not possible. The print page always needs your UAM number as well, and the mobile number you type must match the one recorded on your original certificate.
If you have lost the UAM number, use the Forgot Udyam/UAM Number option on the same portal. For a lost Udyam number, see how to recover a forgotten Udyam registration number.
It sends a one-time password (OTP) to your registered mobile or email, and then shows the numbers linked to you.
| Step | Field on the portal | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Registration type | Choose Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum |
| 2 | OTP option | Pick OTP on your registered mobile or email |
| 3 | Mobile or email | The contact as filled in your application |
| 4 | Validate OTP | Enter the OTP to see all your registered numbers |
If the registered mobile or email is no longer reachable, the portal shows no self-service alternative, so plan to recover one of those contacts before you start.

What to use instead of an old Udyog Aadhaar certificate
Because the old certificate is no longer valid, lenders and tenders generally now ask for a current Udyam certificate. You have three routes, depending on what you already hold.
- Migrate to Udyam: If you only have an old UAM, you re-register on the portal to get a Udyam Registration Number and a fresh certificate. The full walkthrough is in how to migrate from Udyog Aadhaar to Udyam.
- Download your Udyam certificate: If you have already migrated, you print the current certificate with your Udyam number, mobile and an OTP. The guide to udyam certificate download covers each step.
- Find your Udyam number: If you are unsure of your 19-character Udyam Registration Number, the recovery steps are in udyam registration number.
Informal micro units without GST or PAN can instead register through the Udyam Assist Platform and receive an Udyam Assist Certificate.
